The scope of these fonds is from 1987 - 1994. The fonds consist of material generated by Maggie Siggins in the research and writing of two books: Revenge of the Land: a Century of Greed, Tragedy and Murder on a Saskatchewan Farm published by McClelland and Stewart in 1991 and Riel: a Life of Revolution published by Harper Collins. The Revenge of the Land:... series consists of excerpts from books, historical papers and documents, court documents, homestead documents, interviews (transcribed and original recordings), newspaper and magazine articles and photographs. All of these document the history and settlers of Section 11, Township 16, Range 25, west of the Second Meridian near Pasqua, Saskatchewan from 1883 to 1989. Some of the material also related to the people and events occurring in the Moose Jaw area during this period. The Riel:... series includes excerpts from articles, books, newspapers and legal
documents pertaining to Louis Riel's life from 1844 to 1885. These records include documentation relating to the Red River Colony and the Red River Rebellion in Manitoba and the North-West Rebellion of 1884 to 1885 culminating
in Riel's death. Also included are materials on the settlement of the Red River Colony; Louis Riel's parents and grandparents; and events occurring in Regina, Prince Albert and the Batoche area during the North-West Rebellion; and
translations, from French to English, of poetry and letters by and to Louis Riel.

This open collection contains photocopied portions of transcripts from the Saskatchewan Legislature Debates and Proceedings dated 1975 to 1984 from the Saskatchewan Legislative Library. This material was used for research for Siggins’ A Canadian Tragedy JoAnn and Colin Thatcher: A Story of Love and Hate. The majority of the documents are sections of transcripts featuring W.C. Thatcher, the last folder contains material from the Speaker of the House.

This open collection contains one undated, annotated draft of Maggie Siggins book: A Canadian Tragedy, JoAnne and Colin Thatcher: A Story of Love and Hate. This manuscript was in the care of the author’s publisher before being sent to the Archives in April 1986.

This collection contains research materials and writings of Maggie Siggins for the book: A Canadian Tragedy, JoAnne and Colin Thatcher: A Story of Love and Hate (Toronto: McMillan of Canada, 1985). The collection contains: drafts; biographical and extensive other research materials; a complete record of court transcripts, affidavits, judgments, etc. from both custody and divorce proceedings and from the murder trial in 1984; and numerous taped interviews with key individuals. The research files give insights into the personal Thatcher drama as well as into politics in Saskatchewan from about 1950 to 1984.

This collection consists of 2.5 meters of text and 146 audio cassettes relating to the book Escaping the Big Lie: a Class Reunion turns into a Cultural History of Women in the Western World by Maggie Siggins. The predominant dates are the 1990s.

The collection is divided into the following series: Address Book, Calendar/Day Planners, Correspondence, Finances, Notebooks, Photographs, Writing by Maggie Siggins, Writing by Others and Original Thermal Faxes. The thermal faxes were preservation photocopied and kept in box 6 files 67, 68 and 69. The date range of the records is 1974 to 1990 with one file from 2006.
